Day Book

Image
The best way to get back in (for me) is a Day Book. I'm not sure if they even still have a "Simple Woman's Day Book" or not, but I always enjoyed them. Daybook for the week of June 12, 2016 Picture for the week........                                                The birthday boy -  He turned 12 on Saturday-- ( this picture is from Thanksgiving though, I haven't down loaded my phone pictures yet though.  ) Outside my window..... Things are green, and showers today have made my garden very happy I am thinking..... About starting in with some school for the kids next week. About dipping our feet in with some potty training. About the how very deep the spiritual side of adoption is, and how constant. I am thankful for..... ...

Maybe the best place to begin is a family photo, after all...  there are additions... or maybe just one.   Matthew joined us in 2012. James joined us in 2014.

Laine's Letters

3 Years, it has been 3 years since I have updated this blog. Hoping to continue to journal our happenings. First I wanted to leave a link for Laine's Letters. Oh my these letters have been SOOOOO  encouraging to me like NOTHING else. She inspired me to spend my morning with the Lord, waiting on Him, listening to Him. She inspired me to love my husband and put him right after the Lord She inspired me to raise and love and train my children in many areas And lastly she even touched on keeping my home, to bring honor to the Lord. I want to come back (SOON) and print these off and put them in a binder for each of my daughters.   Hoping that one day these letters will inspired them as well. Laine's Letters archives

Homestead update

It has been a VERY long time since I've done any updates, and with my FB break, I have time!  :) Our biggest projects right now are trimming up our fence rows.... we have had a cow get out a FEW times, thankfully he was a bottle fed baby so he was pretty easy to get back in, but we have 2 that would NOT be so easy, so we went to work on really really getting the fence row mowed, trimmed, chopped down.  It was BAD! Our next project we are working on is the chicken house.   This was not a written down planned job, but 2 days ago we found a chicken with it's neck/head gone laying on the front step of the chicken house.   Only one and some are pretty sure they smelled skunk too.... so began "Lock down the chicken house 101".   To which I saw many hands "on deck" and began thinking of many more things we NEED to do to our chicken house.... so the list began and was tackled.   We put back up the electric netting fence, not sure if it will ...

Backyard Pharmacy - by Rachel Weaver

Image
Remember "Be Your Own Doctor"?    This book is by far my first GO TO book when something goes wrong.  There are so many options for different ailments and so many of them are common on hand items.  I just love this book so much. I was so blessed to have the author come to our town and speak the other week.   She spoke for about an hour and a half and shared so many more stories and treatment options for ailments. She has since written 2 new books, one that I just have to share is "Backyard Pharmacy"   This book is so so wonderful, I have only looked through it a handful of times, but already I can identify "weeds" that I never new-- I never knew their name, I never knew what they could be used for and again, Rachel Weaver lays it out in a away that is SOOOOOO easy to understand... she breaks it down for even the very very beginner (ME) to understand and begin implementing right away.   A brief excerpt from her book:   "I fi...

Why Can't I get this??

Image
I know some don't like the Pearls-- I do-- and I really like the categories he sometimes gives people--  Visionary, Command, Steady. My husband is reading the newest book Created to Need a Helpmeet and it made me chuckle a bit because SOOO much of it is so true.  (My husband reads some to me, he likes sharing it with me....) My husband is 98% steady, 1% visionary and 1% command....  The chapter on what happens and WHY Mr. Steady's marry "Go To Gals" is just 100% RIGHT ON... (yes I am a GO TO Girl) I like a project, I like new, sometimes Jason would say "you are never happy, there is always SOMETHING MORE....."   Some days that is hard-- I am very visionary I am very GOAL oriented I am a sinner I am some days a terrible mother I get a lot done, but so much goes left Undone with my children and their hearts. When I read things such as this from Riddlelove , it makes me wonder-- WHY CAN'T I get this??? Nothing is more important than rel...

Yikes, wont share where *THAT* title came from....  :( Well we are officially back to school.   We start early because when we need a break-- we take one.   So after hoping and knowing Weaver is a terrific curriculum I have had to put it on the shelf for now.  I just cannot get it all together.    I am thrilled to share what I have found that we are using so far though..... we are still doing it kind of like a unit study.     Easy Peasy Homeschool! We start our day "early" for my older 3, I am often rolling them out of bed....;)   at 7am is breakfast, followed by Bible Time, which I just have to share has been SOOO sweet, minus we are missing daddy who is not home from work.  :(    I bought the dramatized version of the Bible on CD awhile ago and so we are listening to that on our DVD player thru our TV (it is louder) and it has been nice because it leave me with FREE hands and eyes to hel...
