Christmas ideas, thoughts, etc. mostly from others

I wanted to bring some of my FB items here-- as it is MUCH easier to search for things later here....

I came across this great blog article from Mrs. E. on A Gift For Our King. Very thought provoking....

Mary gave her body, her comfort, her patience, her love, her being. God gave me a precious glimpse into this one evening as I was sitting, exhausted, holding my littlest newborn babe (who is now all 18 months old of gooey adorable cuteness). I asked for help. The Holy Spirit asked me, “If that babe you were holding was your Saviour, your Messiah, how would you feel?” And it seemed like the room vanished, and I was actually beside that manger, on a dark cold night, with nothing to give my precious son but myself. And nothing to give myself to detract from my son (no soft bed and pillow, no hot cup of tea, no TV, no shopping trip or pint of ice cream, no internet or phone, no friends). In that moment, my heart ached to the point of bursting.

Beth was a guest blogger at Keeper of the Home and had a great post on Christmas and re-thinking what we do and WHY.... O Worship the King: Evaluating our Christmas Traditions

We want to intentionally point all of our Christmas celebration to Christ, and not to worldy traditions with no value.

Ann, at A Holy Experience had a few great Christmas posts-- including: Thinking About Whose Birthday It Is.

“But Mom…. if we get wrapped presents for our birthdays, real sacrifices from people who love us — they gave up other things to give something to us — then why don’t we do that for Jesus’ birthday?”

Ann also has a
FREE Jessie Tree devotional guide
that she is giving away for free.. This is what our family is using this year. We have really enjoyed it so far.

The Grocery Shrink has had quite a few Christmas craft tutitorials....

Courtney at Women Living Well has a great Peaceful December Challenge-- DEFINITLY worth checking out....

Yet it is hard to have a peace of mind during this insanely busy time for women. When we lack peace of mind, we lack peace in our homes. In our exhaustion, we become irritable and emotional. God can give us the strength to handle our challenging to-do list with grace and beauty but we need time alone resting, talking and just being with Jesus. He is our source of peace.
