Lacto Fermented Saurkraut

After talking Fermented foods on my MOMYS board this week-- I had a huge craving for some Saurkraut-- so we made a gallon!! YUMMMMO

Here is the final product!! SO juicy--

My helper to PUSH it down...

And yes-- these are older pictures from my old house-- but the older 2 boys did ALL the work-- getting the HUGE heads of cabbage into shredded pieces...

I love when they work together...

How do you make Lacto-fermented Saurkraut?

  1. Wow, you really had a ton of help! I bought a mandoline for cutting cabbage just for sauerkraut ages ago and haven't used it yet. It has just been on the back burner as they say. You have it simmering on my front burner once again thanks to the pictures - I remembered how much fun my kids have doing it. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. So good to see your new blog Julie.

Just wanted to clairfy-- I do not simmer the saurkraut-- the stove was just the only "clean" spot!! lol I think simmering would kill all the good things we were trying to "cook up".
