Homestead update 6/28/11

A few pictures from the homestead--- this week--

First our newest addition!!
LOL-- NOT!!! We did NOT buy a horse-- although the little girl in PINK LOVED this horse-- as she does EVERY horse we see!!
This was at a Civil War event in town this weekend.

Then Jason got to PLAY in the dirt-- well it wasn't REALLY dirt-- but it looked similar--

Why RIGHT HERE!!!

In my NEW RAISED BEDS!!!!

Yes we are SUPER late this year gardening-- I wasn't going to do one with Rachel being born-- but she is 7 weeks old and I am feeling good so we are going for it--- plus with being on the GAPS we need all the produce we can get!!



We came home one day to find 25 of our new chick (meat broilers) GONE-- DEAD- TAKEN!! and later that day we found our MAMMA rabbit DEAD!! We aren't sure why-- but she left behind BABIES-- NURSING babies!!!


Thankfully our dear friend/neighbor was able to help us figure out how we could TRY to save them-- so far so good.




Yes-- we are feeding the rabbits-- GOAT MILK-- I'm tellin' ya-- GOAT MILK has healing properties-- they are amazing!!

3 Years, it has been 3 years since I have updated this blog. Hoping to continue to journal our happenings. First I wanted to leave a link for Laine's Letters. Oh my these letters have been SOOOOO  encouraging to me like NOTHING else. She inspired me to spend my morning with the Lord, waiting on Him, listening to Him. She inspired me to love my husband and put him right after the Lord She inspired me to raise and love and train my children in many areas And lastly she even touched on keeping my home, to bring honor to the Lord. Immigrant 1880-1914 food budget

So we went on a mini field trip this weekend to the Johnstown Flood Museum and then to the Heritage Center -- "Through Immigrant Eyes, tells a national story in a local context. It captures the imaginations of visitors through its innovative use of interactive media. Rather than simply looking at artifacts, you'll actually experience the sights, sounds and even the smells of immigrants' daily lives, and come away with a more complete understanding of the sacrifices and achievements of these Americans in the making. As you enter, you'll choose a card with a photo of one of eight immigrant characters, who are fictional composites based on historical facts. You then experience the daily life of that character as you tour the museum. " Well the "foodie" in me-- found a few sights VERY interesting.... the entire center was very interesting.... but-- in 1880-1914 these were some signs we saw.... Day Book

The best way to get back in (for me) is a Day Book. I'm not sure if they even still have a "Simple Woman's Day Book" or not, but I always enjoyed them. Daybook for the week of June 12, 2016 Picture for the week........                                                The birthday boy -  He turned 12 on Saturday-- ( this picture is from Thanksgiving though, I haven't down loaded my phone pictures yet though.  ) Outside my window.....
