Are you Prepared? Our Long Term Goals

I haven't paid much attention to this very neat series-- and I will go back and see what nuggets of great idea I can pull from Homestead Revival's Preparedness Challenges.

So here is our LONG term goals-- how long? I don't know-- but before we move to "land" we should have some research and ideas covered including:

cook stove
wood stove
clean water source
propane stove
hand water pump
DE on all dried goods
hand grain mill
berkey water filter
food storage 3 days
food storage 2 weeks
food storage 3 months
hand crank lantern
cast iron pans
compost toilet
fishing rods
ammunition
hunting knives


I am sure this list is lacking in MANY ways-- these are all works in progress-- and after only reading 1 book and a handfull of blogs--- I will udpate these lists OFTEN I am sure.

3 Years, it has been 3 years since I have updated this blog. Hoping to continue to journal our happenings. First I wanted to leave a link for Laine's Letters. Oh my these letters have been SOOOOO  encouraging to me like NOTHING else. She inspired me to spend my morning with the Lord, waiting on Him, listening to Him. She inspired me to love my husband and put him right after the Lord She inspired me to raise and love and train my children in many areas And lastly she even touched on keeping my home, to bring honor to the Lord. Immigrant 1880-1914 food budget

So we went on a mini field trip this weekend to the Johnstown Flood Museum and then to the Heritage Center -- "Through Immigrant Eyes, tells a national story in a local context. It captures the imaginations of visitors through its innovative use of interactive media. Rather than simply looking at artifacts, you'll actually experience the sights, sounds and even the smells of immigrants' daily lives, and come away with a more complete understanding of the sacrifices and achievements of these Americans in the making. As you enter, you'll choose a card with a photo of one of eight immigrant characters, who are fictional composites based on historical facts. You then experience the daily life of that character as you tour the museum. Day Book

The best way to get back in (for me) is a Day Book. I'm not sure if they even still have a "Simple Woman's Day Book" or not, but I always enjoyed them. Daybook for the week of June 12, 2016 Picture for the week........                                                The birthday boy -  He turned 12 on Saturday-- ( this picture is from Thanksgiving though, I haven't down loaded my phone pictures yet though.  ) Outside my window..... Things are green, and showers today have made my garden very happy I am thinking..... About starting in with some school for the kids next week. About dipping our feet in with some potty training.
