Summer Fun & Happy Birthday Joshua

WOW!! 9 already?!?! Really-- HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
Joshua turned 9 on Monday!!
He wanted ribs-- for his MAIN MEAL. (normally he would've been taken out for breakfast or lunch but due to GAPS diet, that is not an option).
So he had Ribs and Coconut flour orange cake (YUMM) and well the ice cream did NOT turn out-- I made it with LOTS of REAL Orange Extract-- and well it didn't freeze due to the alchol content!! :( I was so sad-- 3 hours later it was still MILK!! (or hm yogurt in our case)

Poor thing-- Stephen really beleives it is NOT a party without PARTY HATS!! So we had to get hats.. which I might add were very hard to find!! Kids must not use party hats anymore-- there were 2 to pick from at Walmart!!


Here are 2 excited boys to be wearing their hats though!! LOL

The Saturday before Joshuas birthday we went swimming. (first time for some) We went to Jason's aunts and had the pool ALL TO OURSELVES!! VERY NICE TIME!!

Super nice-- the kids had SOOO much fun. and So did I!



Zach has always been "part fish"!! LOL



Rebekahs first time swimming--she didn't even own a suit!!



Joshua too LOVES the water!!




However don't ask how they felt MONDAY!! After spending LITERALLY ALL SATURDAY in the water!!


The poor older 2 are BURNT TO A CRISP!! I felt soooo bad!!

Immigrant 1880-1914 food budget

So we went on a mini field trip this weekend to the Johnstown Flood Museum and then to the Heritage Center -- "Through Immigrant Eyes, tells a national story in a local context. It captures the imaginations of visitors through its innovative use of interactive media. Rather than simply looking at artifacts, you'll actually experience the sights, sounds and even the smells of immigrants' daily lives, and come away with a more complete understanding of the sacrifices and achievements of these Americans in the making. Day Book

The best way to get back in (for me) is a Day Book. I'm not sure if they even still have a "Simple Woman's Day Book" or not, but I always enjoyed them.
