Goodbye Big Mamma.....

What a very sad homestead day......

Our favorite goat (BY FAR) was found dead in the field.

She was old and very worn out. (in fact we dried her off 3 weeks ago just from seeing how tired she was).

We knew she was old and wouldn't be around long-- and we KNEW WE MUST NOT have her become BRED AGAIN....that would've been her dimise for sure.......

But we will SOOOO VERY MUCH MISS BIG MAMMA!!!

She was our first goat to really milk..... and she was OH SO PATIENT with us.... /me. She just stood on the stand and allowed me to milk her as long as it took!!

She was SOOO very patient with the children as well.....

She will be very very much missed...... for many reasons.....

    So sorry to hear that! It is quite amazing how attached one can get to animals. And some are just extra special. God is so amazing!

Immigrant 1880-1914 food budget

So we went on a mini field trip this weekend to the Johnstown Flood Museum and then to the Heritage Center -- "Through Immigrant Eyes, tells a national story in a local context. It captures the imaginations of visitors through its innovative use of interactive media. Rather than simply looking at artifacts, you'll actually experience the sights, sounds and even the smells of immigrants' daily lives, and come away with a more complete understanding of the sacrifices and achievements of these Americans in the making. Day Book

The best way to get back in (for me) is a Day Book. I'm not sure if they even still have a "Simple Woman's Day Book" or not, but I always enjoyed them. Daybook for the week of June 12, 2016 Picture for the week........                                                The birthday boy -  He turned 12 on Saturday-- ( this picture is from Thanksgiving though, I haven't down loaded my phone pictures yet though.  ) Outside my window.....
