Shopping at Aldi's
ALDI-- I shopped there YEARS ago, back when I only had 2 children and money was already tight... lol Now we have 7 and really the income hasn't changed very much.... but God provides.
Well I stopped shopping there because the food was just too over processed. A friend and I chatted many times at all the "FILLERS" that was in the Aldi items vs. other stores. So I stopped.
However the last 2 weeks I've heard a under current on Facebook about Aldi having an organic line.
Now I know "organic" is not always "organic".... and that maybe true. So if you are a DIE HARD FOODIE- you may not want this still.
I however have been buying my produce primarily at a bent and dent grocery store. So for me-- this is a step up.
**Now that we are on GAPS I do hope to buy my produce through an organic co-op this month** but this is still a step up from where I was......
Well I just have to share some of my Aldi GOODIES!!!
I really bought a good bit of produce from them. Banannas (they had organic), carrots, lemons, oranges (which by the way are HONESTLY the best I've had in a LONG TIME), avacados, celery, mushrooms.... it was a good selection. And about 1/2 was "Organic"
Salmon, Wild?? (I HOPE) but a great price.... so I stocked up
Kefir!! Oh yeah-- Matthew LOVES Keifr-- so I bought all they had (not very much but it was cool they even had it)
Coconut milk!! They also had Almond milk, but I put the Almond back in the refrigerator when I saw the Coconut!!!
Yes, I love some of the products they carry. I have found organic raw cheddar cheese, organic apple juice boxes (3 for 99cents), organic butter, etc. But those were just in the store a little while...hopefully to come back later. It certainly isn't where I do all my shopping but it has gotten SO much better than what I remember from my first experiences. Glad to hear that you found some things that work for your family. Today we went and they were out of coconut and almond milk! But I know that isn't common.
